I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not really into the lovey-dovey commercial stuff that surrounds Valentine’s day (apart from anything chocolate-related). However, my daughter has been asking for a heart. Turns out they’ve been talking about hearts in school, and she was looking for some drawing materials.
Thinking I couldn’t deny my daughter hearts AND art, I started scouring the Internet for printables. It was harder than I thought. Ever notice how there are loads of cutesy printables out there, but they’re all so… cutesy?
I just wanted simple printables that are not based on TV characters.
When I couldn’t find any, I decided put together my own collection of not-too-cutesy Valentine’s day coloring pages. I thought I’d share them with you here.
Raising kids in a developing country definitely has its advantages (local chocolate comes to mind). It also has its drawbacks, including lack of educational materials. So you can imagine why printables are near and dear my own little heart.
This particular set of Valentine’s day printables is in honour of animals that don’t look too much like TV-inspired cartoons. With a love theme, of course.
There are 10 coloring pages altogether, mostly for preschooled-aged kids, with a couple of options for older kids too. You’ll find:
- Bear with moon heart
- Dove with heart balloon
- Graceful lovebirds
- Small birds in love
- Bunny with heart on his tummy (okay, this one is cutesy)
- Dear deer
- Baby elephant
- Heart collection
- Hearts in hearts
